Each September, the Trust extends the academy day for all Year 11 learners as part of our Upgrade Mission. This initiative is designed to support learners in preparing thoroughly for their forthcoming GCSE examinations, and we are extremely proud of the positive impact these sessions have on improving outcomes.

The Upgrade Mission extends the academy day by one additional period on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 15:20 to 16:00. Throughout the academic year, these sessions focus on all subject areas and are carefully planned to ensure that every Year 11 learner is fully supported to achieve their best possible examination results.

We also offer Upgrade sessions for Year 10 learners. These run at the same times—Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 15:20 to 16:00—and focus primarily on non-core subject areas across the academic year. These sessions are designed to build confidence, deepen subject knowledge, and support early preparation for GCSE study.

The Year 11 Upgrade programme demonstrates the Trust’s strong commitment to providing high-quality academic support, enabling learners to thrive in their summer examinations and progress successfully to positive post-16 destinations.

Important: a parent/ carer letter is sent each year prior to the implementation of Upgrade.
