Staff Strike Action - 1st February 2023 (Update 1)

You may be aware from media coverage that teaching union have declared strike action, which will take place on 1st February. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over teachers’ pay, and not because of any issues at our academy.

I am getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be disrupted on 1st February. It is our intention for our academy to remain open. We are in the process of completing a risk assessment and we are considering several options to accommodate this satisfactorily.

As a precaution, we recommend that you start to make alternative childcare arrangements for this date in the event of the academy being required to close.

I’m sorry about the potential disruption to you and to your child’s education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. Our academy remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our learners and delivering high-quality teaching.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and we will inform you of the final arrangements as soon as possible via Weduc, social media and on our website. Due to the ever-changing situation, we apologise if this is at short notice.

If you have any questions, please contact the school on 01384 986550.
