Key Stage 3
Students have the opportunity to study Dance as part of their weekly PE – alongside this there is a Key Stage 3 Dance Club where they can develop skills, devise and choreograph their own dance work.
Key Stage 4
Students study dances set by the exam board, as well as develop their own choreographic and performance skills. Students are expected to dance both as a solo and part of a group, along with having the opportunity to dance in each others’ work.
Students also develop their theoretical performance knowledge and demonstrate this through a written exam in Year 11.
How lessons are taught
Students have both practical and theory lessons. Students are able to build upon their theoretical knowledge and apply this during their practical lessons.
