Welcome to The Link Academy, part of Dudley Academies Trust! At The Link we are acutely aware of the vital importance that Secondary Education plays in the ambitions and aspirations of the young people of our local community. It is our intention to ensure that every young person’s life chances are enhanced by their education and experiences. As part of Dudley Academies Trust, we place the key values outlined below are at the heart of all that we do:
Respecting each other and our world
Learning that inspires
This is of course a team effort between our students, staff, parents and the local community! Students at our Academy are capable, talented and ambitious and we provide a varied and enriched curriculum which will enable them to achieve their future dreams. I am a firm believer that effort pays off and we plan to instil a strong work ethic amongst our students. We want students to feel incredibly proud of their achievements and as a result we will ensure that we reward their effort and success.
As a teaching staff our priority is to plan lessons that challenge and engage our learners. All of our teaching staff are committed to a teacher development programme where we are constantly reviewing and reflecting upon our own teaching to improve education for all. Alongside the Academy Trust we will ensure that we continue to work on the school environment and provide the best resources for our learners, ultimately we want all of our students to enjoy their time with us and achieve to their full potential. Standards of behaviour of very high and students are expected to be polite and respectful. Any abusive, aggressive or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated. We work hard to embed our Values Driven Expectations Behaviour Policy. Rewards are at the centre of our approach where we recognise those learners that go above and beyond.
The expectations for uniform are very clearly outlined in our VDE Parent and Carer Guide. I would much prefer to focus our conversations on student effort, progress and achievements. Therefore the uniform is a set expectation for all students, one which we will not negotiate on. Attendance to school is of critical importance to maximise progress. We would like every child to have aim to have an attendance of 100% as there is a very clear link between attendance and achievement.
We would encourage both current and prospective parents and carers to visit our Academy to experience the positive learning environment that we have created for our young people. The Link can offer your child a very wide and diverse curriculum. We provide access to a range of academic and vocational qualifications alongside enrichment activities which support their success and develop their skills. We look forward to welcoming you!
